Winter Weather Returns…Again
Winter makes a come back today and the Wintry feel could stick around for a while. Rain will be likely across the region today (100% coverage), but it won’t rain continuously all day…there will be breaks at times. The wind picks up this afternoon and colder air will rush in dropping temperatures quickly across the Plateau early afternoon, in the Valley late afternoon early evening and into the Mountains by sunset. This means the “mainly rain” event will mix with and eventually change to some snow across the area later today and especially tonight. Temperatures will fall into the 20s overnight and the light snow will continue at times (especially for the Mountains and Plateau), so there could be some slick roads overnight into Wednesday morning. The wind gets even stronger Wednesday with highs only in the low-mid 30s, plus continuing areas of light snow (mainly Plateau and Mountains). We will keep a close eye on this developing situation, so keep it tuned to WATE-6 and wate.com for further updates.

Rain And Snow Showers Tonight
A chilly rain moves into the area tonight and may mix with some wet snowflakes. The best chance for accumulations will along the higher elevations, especially SE Kentucky and the Smoky Mountains where WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES are in effect. We can't rule out some snow on grassy surfaces in the valley Tuesday morning but with temperatures above freezing, big travel problems are not expected. Colder air brings snow showers late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Some slick roads are possible by Tuesday night. Be sure to follow the 6 Storm Team at www.twitter.com/wateweather.
New Orleans Nightmare for Manning
This isn't about me. It's about you.
The Super Bowl has been over less than 24 hours and it's been viewed and reviewed from every angle possible. There are no orginal thoughts left to "wow" you with. All that matters, is what we believe.
I still think Peyton Manning is a great quarterback. The greatest? I think another Super Bowl win would have elevated him to the status reserved for guys like Montana and Bradshaw.
More Wintry Weather Headed To East Tennessee?
We will continue with the cloudy and cool conditions this afternoon, but you will not need the umbrella. Don’t forget it though for Tuesday as rain will move into the region overnight into tomorrow. In fact, it could also mix with some snow in some areas (especially for the Plateau, S.E. KY and the Mountains) overnight. Some good news is that most areas will NOT drop below freezing overnight into Tuesday, so any snow accumulations look mainly to be on the grassy surfaces with just wet roads (caution on some bridges and overpasses though). It will be a breezy, chilly and raw day Tuesday with an ongoing rain/snow mix and I do think it could be colder late day Tuesday into Tuesday night. That means there “might” be more of a travel concern as we head into Wednesday morning…so stay tuned!
Keep The Coat And Umbrella Handy This Week
Not a lot of sunshine is expected this week and the cooler weather pattern will stick around as well. You will not need the umbrella today, but remember where you put it because rain will move into the region overnight into Tuesday. In fact, it could also mix with some snow in some areas (mainly higher elevations) overnight as well. It will be a breezy, chilly and raw day Tuesday with a mainly morning rain event, but I do think it will mix with/change to snow late Tuesday into Tuesday night with some “light” accumulations into Wednesday (especially higher elevations)…stay tuned.
